Bibliography and outline
Paper

In consultation with the instructor, each student will identify a world theatre research topic on a theatrical theory, style, technique, design, genre, practice, technology, company, actor, director, playwright or designer that lived or was developed at some point between antiquity and the 17th century, then conduct preliminary research and submit a thesis statement in writing to the instructor, via Canvas, within 4 weeks of the first day of class. After consultation and approval of the thesis statement by the instructor, the student will conduct research on the topic and present the results of his/her research (an annotated bibliography and outline) to the instructor, via Canvas. After consultation with the instructor the student will conduct further research and write a 5 page Research Paper (plus a works cited page, total of 6 complete pages, minimum) written in MLA style format (in-text citations) with at least 4 credible, scholarly sources (no online encyclopedias or Sparknotes, etc.) to be submitted to the instructor, via Canvas (Thesis Statement: 5%; Research/Bibliography/Outline: 5%; Paper: 10%)

At the start of 2017, the forecasters correctly predicted the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates three times by the end of the year, and their other forecasts were all reasonably close to the mark

Topic:
“At the start of 2017, the forecasters correctly predicted the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates three times by the end of the year, and their other forecasts were all reasonably close to the mark. They saw a 4.3% unemployment rate at year’s end. It was actually 4.1%. They thought GDP would expand 2.3% on the year, versus actual growth of 2.5%. They saw headline inflation of 1.9% and core inflation of 1.7%, versus actual figures of 1.7% and 1.5%.”
-Wall Street Journal
Based on the above information, analyze the five key indicators of Economic Growth: federal-funds rate, unemployment rate, GDP growth, inflation, core inflation.

Also, discuss how these 5 indicators impact real interest rates.

Assignment #2: Descriptive Statistics Analysis and Writeup

Descriptive Statistics Analysis
Description
Assignment #2: Descriptive Statistics Analysis and Writeup
In the first assignment (Assignment #1: Descriptive Statistics Analysis Data Plan), you developed a scenario about annual household expenditures and a plan for analyzing the data using descriptive statistic methods. The purpose of this assignment is to carry out the descriptive statistics analysis plan and write up the results. The expected outcome of this assignment is a two to three page write-up of the findings from your analysis as well as a recommendation.
Assignment Steps:
Step #1: Review Feedback from Your Instructor
Before performing any analysis, please make sure to review your instructor’s feedback on Assignment #1: Descriptive Statistics Data Analysis Plan. Based on the feedback, modify variables, tables, and selected statistics, graphs, and tables, if needed.
Step #2: Perform Descriptive Statistic Analysis
Task 1: Look at the dataset.
• (Re)Familiarize yourself with the variables. Review Table 1: Variables Selected for the Analysis you generated for the first assignment as well as your instructor’s feedback. In addition, look at the data dictionary contained in the data set for information about the variables.
• Select the variables you need for the analysis.
Task 2: Complete your data analysis, as outlined in your first assignment, with any needed modifications, based on your instructor’s feedback.
• Calculate Measures of Central Tendency and Variability. Use the information from Assignment #1 – Table 2. Numerical Summaries of the Selected Variables. Here again, be sure to see your instructor’s feedback and incorporate into the analysis.
• Prepare Graphs and/or Tables. Use the information from Assignment #1 – Table 3. Type of Graphs and/or Tables for Selected Variables. Here again, be sure to see your instructor’s feedback and incorporate into the analysis
Step #3: Write-up findings using the Provided Template
For this part of the assignment, write a short 2-3 page write-up of the process you followed and the findings from your analysis. You will describe, in words, the statistical analysis used and present the results in both statistical/text and graphic formats.
Here are the main sections for this assignment:
✓ Identifying Information. Fill in information on name, class, instructor, and date.
✓ Introduction. For this section, use the same scenario you submitted for the first assignment and modified using your instructor’s feedback, if needed. Include Table 1 (Table 1: Variables
Selected for the Analysis) you used in Assignment #1 to show the variables you selected for the analysis.
✓ Data Set Description and Method Used for Analysis. Briefly describe the data set, using information provided in the data set file. Also describe what method(s) (i.e., TI Calculator, free web applets, Excel) you used to analyze the data.
✓ Results. In this section, you will report the results of your descriptive statistics data analysis. For each variable, fill in the following sections:
• Variable (#): (Name). Fill in the name of the variable. Note: Income was included for variable 1.
• Numerical Summary. Fill in Table . Descriptive Analysis for Variable with your
computation. Below is the template table; be sure to include the name(s) of the
measures used as well as their values. Since there will be no measure of dispersion for the qualitative variable, just enter N/A for not applicable. Note: The information for the required variable, “Income,” has already been partially completed and can be used as a guide for completing information on the remaining variables.
• Graph and/or Table. Put the graph or table for the variable in this section.
• Description of Findings.
– Briefly describe the descriptive statistics measure(s) that was/were calculated
and explain why was it/they the appropriate one(s) to use.
– Describe the results of the analysis in everyday language. Please consult your
textbook and information contained in our LEO classroom for examples.

✓ Discussion and Conclusion. Organize the discussion to address findings for which you presented results. Briefly discuss each variable in the same sequence as presented in the results. What has the highest expenditure? What variable has the lowest expenditure? If you were to recommend a place to save money, which expenditure would it be and why? Note: The section should be no more than 2 paragraphs

Oil Drilling in the ANWR
Description
Argumentative Writing Assignment: Oil Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge {ANWR}

Do whatever research and reading necessary to understand the issue of oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), and select one side of the issue to argue. Your paper either will support drilling for oil in the ANWR or your paper will oppose drilling for oil in the ANWR. As with any convincing argumentative essay, yours must successfully appeal to the reader on three levels: 1) logical/rational, 2) emotional, and 3) moral/ethical. Your essay should be approximately 1000 words in length and adhere to the MLA essay format. Use 12 point size Times New Roman typeface throughout. See The Bedford Researcher and << https://style.mla.org/works-cited-a-quick-guide/ >> for information on MLA essay format and MLA documentation requirements. It is very important that you be able to adhere to MLA style. One of our Course Competencies requires it. Incorporate into your essay at least three items (e.g., facts, quotes, ideas, statistics, observations, et cetera) that you have borrowed from at least three different kinds of secondary sources. Document your sources according to current MLA requirements. This means that your paper should have at least three parenthetical in-text citations and a Works Cited page in MLA format that lists the bibliographical information necessary to document each of your cited sources. Do not use open sources such as Wikipedia. Open sources typically are not considered to be suitable for academic, scholarly, or professional purposes. Submit your essay to TurnItIn.com where it must earn a Similarity Index of 24% or lower before the MS Word version of your paper can be printed out and given to me in class for grading. As always, use MLA Style throughout and follow the conventions of edited Standard American English

Future of marketing in the media
Description

Using 4 or 5 outside sources and any applicable passages/quotations from our readings, write an 8-10 page research paper with an accurate MLA Works Cited page. Start with a research question and the answer to that question will be the basis to your thesis, argument and call to action.
What is the future of marketing and advertising in the media (television, music, movies, magazines, etc…)? What does its future say about us as a society? This “overview” contains a description of your research paper, your associated assignments, and expectations.

Compare Achilles, Apollonius and Beowulf

Compare Achilles, Apollonius and Beowulf
Description
“Compare and contrast at least three individuals that have been ‘idealized’ in the literature that we have read thus far in the semester. To what extent is it possible to say that in different cultural settings across the ancient and medieval period the ‘ideal individual’ is a ‘heroic’ individual?”
Write a 5-6 page essay on the topic described in the prompt above. For the purpose of this essay, you must compare/contrast:
Achilles from The Iliad by Homer
Apollonius from Life of Apollonius by Philostratus
Beowulf from Beowulf
Please note that this paper will require that you work very carefully within a specific definition of not only ‘heroic’ and ‘ideal’, but also any characteristics (such as ‘holiness’ or ‘leadership’) that you might ascribe to heroism or idealism. Similarly, you should note that within each group, characteristics that mark an individual as ‘ideal’ or ‘heroic’ may vary widely, or have subtle similarities (for example, as seen when comparing Achilles and Aeneas, or Apollonius and Antony). Similarly, note that some characters such as Achilles and Antony remained famous as exemplary individuals well beyond the period in which they initially appeared in literature, even when the exemplars produced by subsequent periods might have been vastly different. Here, the “To what extent” portion of the prompt has particular significance. Stronger papers will avoid gross generalizations that imply any given period (as represented by the groups) are static in terms of how they formulate the heroic or ideal.

The essay should be typed, double-spaced, unjustified on the right-hand column, paginated and include in-text citations (parenthetical) of sources. Citations from primary sources may be given as page numbers (Beowulf, p. 45) or as chapter numbers (Life of Alfred the Great 30), although the citation format for each source should be consistent throughout the paper. The paper should be argumentative, having a clear thesis and being well-supported by your own analysis of evidence, rather than an expository survey of the material. Your analysis should draw as much as possible from the primary source readings, but quotations or paraphrase of narrative from the text should not overwhelm your own analysis; rather, analysis should explain how your quoted or paraphrased examples support your thesis
